“Laws, the Legal System, and the Police for Teens and Adults” 2 day Seminar Day 1: Introduction to community laws and social rules. What is a law? What is expected social behavior within the community? What are the consequences when breaking the laws and social rules of a community? How is one expected to behave when confronted by the police? Day 2: A police officer will be in attendance to present information to the group about what they expect out of civilians and to answer questions from the teens/adults generated from first day. "Preparing for College Life" 1 day, 2 hour Seminar Everything from applying, orientation, financial aid, student supports and services, accommodations, how to self-advocate, when to disclose, dorm life, class schedules, homework, scheduling for success, social life, and more. July 20th from 10:00-12:00 pm for teens/young adults $75.00 for Session |
"Building Functional Independence Skills for a Successful Future" 1 day, 2 hour Session What does it mean to be an adult? What do we expect from someone who is 18 or close to the legal age of adulthood? What steps should be taken now to prepare for this? Teens and young adults will learn about the expectations of being an adult including topics such as relationships, work, daily living, school, safety/supports, problem solving, introduction to financial independence (credit card vs. debit card, checks, bills, etc) and the legality of being an adult. July 27th from 10:00-12:00 pm for teens/young adults $75.00 for Session |
"Circle of Control and Size of a Problem" 1 day, 2 hour Seminar Individuals will learn about the Control Circle and how it relates to their emotions and reactions to daily problems. They will also explore the Size of a Problem and the expected Reaction to a Problem now that they are at or near adulthood. They will identify what they do or do not have control over and in turn what expected reactions should look like and sound like. Many different scenarios will be discussed and related back to the Control Circle/Size of a Problem Chart so the individuals can begin to recognize that the way we react to problems is within our control. We will also discuss/show how others view our reactions impacts our ability to maintain relationships and be successful in school and a job site. August 3rd from 1-3 pm for teens/young adults $75.00 for Session |
