Initial Procedure and Plan
Contact Chris Rans to establish a time to gather and talk.
Revitalize the Family Unit with Education and Training
Educating and/or refreshing family members in the latest ASD research i.e. brain neurology, etc.
Training members of the family with the latest ASD strategies that can work
Remember, ASD is a neurological disorder challenging language, communication and social communication both verbal and non-verbal. The person on the spectrum needs to be “taught” social communication skills that he/she do not acquire naturally through maturation. He/she need to be "taught" social communication skills as the average child needs to be taught math and grammar. It is essential to build “teachable” moments into the everyday life of the person on the autism spectrum provided by the various family members involved.
Designing individualized interventions and strategies that can be implemented by a number of family members i.e. home/living environment and the community. These interventions for the family unit can be a new beginning for everyone involved. They can help diminish the most basic strain and stress of the family unit. There is a comfort in understanding the disorder and implementing the ASD strategies i.e. priming, schedules, 4 W’s plus How, scripting, role playing and last but not least video modelling, etc.

Specifically for the Parent/Caregiver:
Support and Strategies Group w/ a focus on the 14yrs. - Adults
Many a parent/caregiver needs to have a solid understanding of how a person on the spectrum "sees and interprets" the world around him/her as they are approaching adulthood. Many challenges will be occurring if they have not already occurred i.e. recognizing the various laws, the legal system, relationships, social rules and adult living. Understanding ASD then learning effective ASD interventions and strategies is essential for all family members. Then practicing and communicating the strengths and challenges in implementing those strategies within a solid support group can be so rewarding for everyone. Please fill out the Support Information Form so that a time and place convenient for you and others in your community can be created. Cost of each session will be $10.
