Let's begin this new week with hope. One of my adult clients wrote and shared this poem about being autistic from her perspective. I hope you find her words uplifting. Our wish is that we all honor our gifts and celebrate who we are.

"Autism"
To my people.
Those who are considered weird.
We are special not weird.
To my people.
The ones who can see mistakes that others can't.
We are Artists, Doctors, Computer Designers, etc.
We are called freaks of nature.
To my people.
Nature created unique fairies not hideous ghouls.
Sprinkling our magic on the world.
Magic that was once lost.
To my people.
The ones who repeat the Lion King music twice a day.
Who use words or jokes out of context.
Don't be ashamed it's who we are.
However, use your gifts don't throw them away.
Though we are different we are the future.
We may be the ones who cure Cancer or Depression.
Our future looks bright.
The circle of life continues with us leading the way.
