A survey that included "480 Ontarians, 16 to 66 years old, revealed that only half of those with Asperger syndrome were diagnosed before the age of 21, meaning that many of them went through long stretches unaware they had the condition."
This has to change! There are way too many adults with autism that are unemployed, in jail, single, and/or have depression due to their lack of social skill training intervention early on!
This is what drives Chris, Megan and I to do what we do! We have to make a difference in the future of these individuals. If young children and teens had the opportunities to attend school programs that had social skill electives and/or social skill training programs/opportunities like we offer on totallysocialasd.com, adults with ASDs would have a much better chance at a typical successful life including a lasting relationship, a career, and involvement within their community. There just isn't enough of these programs out there. So many parents and the school districts are being told to focus on intelligence, academics, grades, and test scores...all the wrong things and they don't realize the time they are wasting!
