Many of you have heard the beautiful voice of Susan Boyle. Recently, it was made public that Susan is an adult with Asperger Syndrome. In this inspiring documentary, Susan speaks about her childhood diagnosis and social challenges. Viewers are also given a look into her struggles to work through her intense anxiety. I choose the phrase "work through" because it is evident that while she has an achievement in mind, her fears bubble up and she must "work though" them each and every time. She must persist through the worries and self-doubts that often accompany Asperger's.The amazement is she does. Alongside Susan is her personal assistant, psychiatrist, and a team of music industry folks that really know and love her. As you will see in this video, her coach helps her during intense times of panic in a very loving, yet systematic way. He primes Susan very well by telling her what to expect. He allows her the gift of time and practice. He even sets up a mini live performance so she can ease into the sensory experience of singing with a live band. Susan has practiced social conversation and audience banter so that her live performance goes smoothly. In the end, a job that was so daunting to her, was able to be achieved by her hard work, incredible talent, and strategies from her team. What an amazing story to tell on behalf of musicians, dreamers and those on the spectrum. I hope this moves you as much as it did us; with goosebumps and proud, touching tears! Coach Megan
